The best gift we could receive from you is your presence at our wedding celebration.
We realize how much of an effort you've made committing your time, and in
many cases flying across the country, to spend this important weekend here
with us. That you are here to celebrate with us is more than enough of a
present for us.
However, we realize that many people like to give gifts as mementos to mark
the occasion. So, if it would make you happy to give something more, here
is a suggestion we would like you to consider: We have contacted three
non-profit organizations who support causes which are dear to our hearts about
the possibility of some of our friends and family making a special contribution
in our name in honor of our wedding..
- Women's Funding Alliance:
Laura has devoted much of her work and volunteer time supporting
Passages Northwest, an organization which receives funding from the
WFA.
The WFA is the only Puget Sound area organization focused on
supporting and developing agencies that work with women and girls.
The Women's Funding Alliance provides solutions to the critical
issues women and girls still face, and promotes a healthier
community for everyone.

- Alliance for Education:
Laura and Geoff agree that access to excellent education is a right
all children should have, regardless of their financial resources.
The Alliance for Education works to ensure that all students in the
Seattle Public Schools have the knowledge, skills and personal
attributes necessary to succeed in learning, living and working.

- National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS):
NOLS' educational wilderness trips have had a defining roll in
Laura's life, developing her leadership skills as well as her love
and appreciation of nature.
NOLS founder Paul Petzoldt's idea was simple: take people into the
wilderness for an extended period of time, teach them the right
things, feed them well and when they walk out of the mountains,
they will be skilled leaders. The core of his idea was the extended
backpacking expedition, one of sufficient length that a person could learn and
practice the skills over and over again. That is the backbone of
every NOLS course and today the school is widely recognized as the
world's leader in the extended expeditions.
